What Does A CTE Diploma Mean to Me?

In New York City, a Regents Diploma is required to graduate from high school, a student can also go for an Advanced Regents Diploma. In order to get a regular Regents Diploma, a student has to have 8 English and social studies credits, 6 science and math credits, 2 foreign language and visual arts credits, 4 Phys. Ed credits, 1 health credit, and 7 elective credits. To get an Advanced Regents diploma, it is mostly the same with the Advanced Regents diploma requiring 6 foreign language credits instead of 2, and 3 elective credits instead of 7. The requirements to graduate change when a student has a CTE endorsement, if said student has an endorsement and tries for an Advanced Regents, only 2 foreign language credits are needed and no foreign language exam is required. In order for a CTE endorsement to apply, a student has to complete all the requirements for their CTE academy.

Having a CTE endorsement would benefit me personally because it means that I have to take other rigorous classes and have my necessary classes to fill up my high school credits. The unique benefits of having a CTE endorsement through the Web Design Academy is that you have an official seal along with your other seals that you have acquired throughout your high school career along with your Adobe certification that you have earned from Web Design.

The Final Portfolio project is supposed to be the culmination of all our works over the 3 years we've been in Web into one website. This portfolio is supposed to contain all our works from Visual Design all the way to Web Client Programming. To make it more interesting, each of our portfolios had its own style which made it distinct from others. As a result, you can tell whose portfolio you are on based on what you immediately see in front of you. I started building my portfolio slowly during the school year. It went through a few iterations before it became the final product. As it is, I'm happy at how my portfolio came out, it resembles the vision I had for it and contains all my previous works I have done over the years.

Seminar 2

On the final day of CTESS, we reported to the Bank of America building to recap on what we had done in the program and present our topics from the Youth Think Tank. Other students offered their criticisms and feedback to our presentation and vice versa. The seminar also told us what to expect in our future and what steps we can take to ensure that it is successful. I had some prior knowledge of this topic because I had been to some workshops that taught me how to ensure that my future is successful.

Lab 29

For this lab, we created a special text shadow that moves based on your cursor's position. To do this, we first had to create a word that acts as our "anchor". Then, through a series of JavaScript commands, we create four separate text shadows that circle around our anchor word based on our mouses position. The result is a psychedelic effect which is quite appealing to the user's eyes. I actually saw this particular lab showcased on a senior's laptop in last year's CTE Expo.
